Bred at the Hüll Hop Research Center in the Hallertau and released in 2005, Herkules is Germany’s high-alpha workhorse — one of the most widely grown bittering hops in the country. With alpha acids commonly between 12 and 17%, it delivers exceptionally efficient, clean bitterness that suits virtually any beer style, from lagers and pilsners to IPAs and stouts. As a pure bittering hop it lets brewers reach their target IBU economically while keeping the aroma stage free for other varieties. Its restrained spicy, resinous and subtly floral character stays clean and never intrudes. A reliable, cost-effective choice wherever firm, clean bitterness is needed.
