Released by the USDA in 1998, Sterling is an American aroma hop with a noble-style character reminiscent of Saaz. With moderate alpha acids (typically 6–9%), it delivers a pleasant blend of spicy, herbal and floral notes with a hint of citrus. A cost-effective, home-grown alternative to Czech Saaz, Sterling is well suited to pilsners, lagers and Belgian ales.
