Discovered as a chance seedling and released by Virgil Gamache Farms, Amarillo is one of America’s most beloved aroma hops — a proprietary variety prized for its bright, clean citrus character. With alpha acids typically between 8 and 11%, it offers vivid notes of orange, grapefruit, lemon and a soft floral lift, more focused on zesty citrus than tropical fruit. Superb as a late-boil and dry-hop addition, Amarillo brings a smooth, fragrant orange-citrus signature that has made it a staple of American Pale Ales and IPAs.
