Brewers Gold is an old-school dual-purpose classic — spicy, blackcurrant character with firm bitterness.
A classic hop released in England in 1934, Brewers Gold is an old-school dual-purpose variety and an important ancestor of many modern high-alpha hops. With moderate-to-high alpha acids (typically 8–11%), it delivers firm bitterness alongside a spicy, blackcurrant and fruity-resinous character. Robust and traditional, it suits English ales, Belgian styles and lagers where a characterful bitterness is wanted.
