Released in 1972 by Oregon State University, Cascade is the variety that defined the American craft beer movement. Bred from English Fuggle and Russian Serebrianka, it became the signature hop of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It delivers an intense grapefruit aroma layered with lime, lemon, stone fruit and tropical notes, wrapped in a floral, lightly resinous, peppery backbone. Cascade holds up through almost any addition timing and works as a genuine dual-purpose hop.
