Bred in Washington and released in 1990, Centennial is often called the “Super Cascade” — a citrus-and-floral American classic with roughly double the alpha acids of its cousin. Descended largely from Brewer’s Gold with Fuggle, East Kent Golding and others in its lineage, it delivers a punchy aroma of grapefruit and lemon layered with distinct floral notes and a clean resinous edge. Its higher alpha content makes it a true dual-purpose hop, equally at home providing clean bittering or bold late-addition character. Centennial helped define the American IPA and remains a benchmark for the style.
